{"id":1017,"date":"2018-11-05T00:01:13","date_gmt":"2018-11-04T11:01:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/radiescent.wordpress.com\/?p=1017"},"modified":"2018-11-05T00:01:13","modified_gmt":"2018-11-04T11:01:13","slug":"parihaka-sources-and-resources","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rad.net.nz\/radiescent\/2018\/11\/05\/parihaka-sources-and-resources\/","title":{"rendered":"Parihaka Sources and Resources"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nzhistory.govt.nz\/occupation-pacifist-settlement-at-parihaka\">5 November<\/a> is the anniversary of the invasion of the Maori settlement of Parihaka, Taranaki in 1881.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mw-headline\">I regularly teach a course called &#8220;<\/span>Violence and Nonviolence in the Christian Tradition&#8221; at <a href=\"http:\/\/ptc.ac.fj\/\">Pacific Theological College<\/a>. In this course I include a session on &#8220;<span id=\"Session_13:_Nonviolent_Resistance:_Parihaka\" class=\"mw-headline\">Nonviolent Resistance&#8221; looking in detail at what happened at Parihaka and how that can inspire Christian nonviolent resistance against injustice as well as reconciliation.
